Introduction

A short guide to the Pryzmat platform - what you will find here, how to get around, where to look for specific information.

Pryzmat brings public data about the Polish Sejm together in one place. Everything you see here has a clickable source - a link to a register, a document or the Sejm API. If we cannot explain where something came from, we do not let it into the code.

This page is the English introduction

The data pages, the source documents and the quotations are in Polish, because the registers they come from are. Every link below that leads to a Polish page says so.

Main sections

  • Ogólne(in Polish) - General - a quick overview: controversies, the activity ranking, the most recent votes.
  • Wykresy(in Polish) - Charts - the full, analytical versions of all the aggregates (assets, attendance, polarisation…).
  • Politycy(in Polish) - Politicians - the database of all 498 MPs of the 10th parliamentary term.
  • Powiązania(in Polish) - Connections - maps: KRS (the National Court Register), committees, co-authorship of interpellations (formal written questions to the government).
  • Głosowania(in Polish) - Votes - the full database of votes in the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, with filters.
  • Narzędzia(in Polish) - Tools - events detected by the system, and a politician comparison tool.

Who is it for?

The platform is free, open and independent of any party. It is used by journalists, researchers, politics students and every citizen who wants to know how the Polish parliament works.

The philosophy of the project

Pryzmat is a neutral medium, not a polarising one. We show the data as a whole and let you draw your own conclusions. We are a lens, not a megaphone.

Every analytical mechanism has to pass the journalist test: if somebody calls and asks „how did you calculate this?”, we have to have a specific answer. That is why every chart has a methodology. See the methodology page.
